The cross that most of us are familiar with is known as the Latin Cross. It has bountiful meanings depending on what you have been taught and what you believe.
Over the past several years, it has become more and more apparent that Atheists and Agnostics cannot look at the Latin Cross without thinking that it can only represent Christianity. To them, there could be no other reason people would put up a cross than because they want to spread Christianity.
Personally, I don't like to use the symbol of the cross as a rememberance of Christ. The cross to me is a torturous device used to kill people and was used extensively by the Romans.
Others use the cross as a universal symbol of memorial. They place a cross at the location of where a family member, or friend has died, or is buried. This is where Atheists, agnostics, and others have me upset.
The use of a cross as a memorial has been used for centuries. In the last couple of decades, it has suddenly become offensive to a small minority that this symbol is used. They have forced highway patrols to remove memorials for their fallen brethern. They are trying to force the Marines to tear down two crosses in a remote area of a base. It goes on and on.
People! You need to stop being offended by the actions of other people. You need to realize that others may believe in something that you don't. GET OVER IT! Guess what? I don't like you forcing your beliefs on me just as much as you don't like me forcing my beliefs on you.
Whether or not you have the same thoughts as I, it is important for all of us not to be silent. Stand up for what you believe, be considerate of others, but don't force someone to do something because it irritates you. This is the United States of America and they have the freedom to do what they want as long as it doesn't harm someone else.
I'm Ross Beardall, and I approve this message.
